Lecture Notes of 2007

Among the lecture notes I have went through, Dr. David Tong’s QFT lecture notes truely stands out. His lecture notes are based on Peskin’s QFT book with an extra emphasize on Noether theorem. The advantage of the lecture notes compared to the book is that,

1. It is more concise,
2. It is more user friendly,
3. It is more up-to-date.

David is a great lecturer and this is also reflected in his lecture notes. Sometimes he explain the complicated ideas so well, the reader can be deluded that s/he has understood everything!

These lecture notes are an excellent introduction for people who want to learn the difficult QFT. For people who want more information on QFT books for beginners Flip wrote a popular article in the blogosphere: From Griffiths to Peskin: a lit review for beginners

Other lecture notes I found useful in 2007 are:

1. Candelas, Lectures on Complex Manifolds
2. Bouchard, Lectures on complex geometry, Calabi-Yau manifolds, and toric geometry, hep-th/0702063
3. Morrison, Mathematical Aspecs of Mirror Symmetry, alg-geom/9609021
and of course, I almost forgot,
4. Hatcher, Algebraic Topology and Basic Point Set Topology
