Christmas present

Last year, I stayed in Cambridge for the Christmas/New Year vacation. There were only two people around in my staircase. I guess I am one of the few people who actually seen the gates of Clare College closed at daytime. It was very quite, and boring.

This year, I am going to stay in Oxford for the Christmas break. But, this year will not be the same as last year, I already have something to do! It is my mini-Christmas project, and I consider it as my Christmas present.

It is about Mirror Symmetry. In short: I am trying to outline a calculation in a string theory paper of Gromov-Witten invariants, and trying to make it mathematically rigorous. The lecturer puts it as: it is about making string theory into mathematics.

I think I will write about Mirror Symmetry for a few posts. I hope it will give me extra motivation to work on it. Currently, I am just reading about deformations, so I guess I should close this window before I embarrass myself. :-)

One Response to “Christmas present”

  1. I think Steffen is also working on deformations. You should collaborate and write a paper together. :-)
